VIGIA is a product developed by SpeedyControl. 4TIC as authorized partner, is responsible for the marketing, sale and deployment of products and solutions VIGIA.
VIGIA aims to provide a flexible and integrated infrastructure that can be used as a whole, integrating it with the existing information systems.
VIGIA is designed to serve large organizations where the organigrams impose different treatment for different departments. It is also provided that the sharing of roles of the different tasks offered by VIGIA can be adapted for each organization, so these can be assigned to different users depending on the division of responsibilities that exist in each case.
Nowadays, VIGIA is primarily a product of access control built on the hardware of the electronic locks offered by the SALTO SYSTEMS systems. This kind of integration is the result of the experience and knowledge that SpeedyControl has gained on the SALTO platform, thanks to that, we can provide a solid foundation on which to build services that integrate with it in a suitable way.
Thanks to its modular design, VIGIA provides a robust and fault-tolerant interface, which allows access to key capabilities offered by the SALTO system, allowing to perform several functions on the security system in place. This set of features, described in different sections of the paper, give us total control over access permissions based on our installation.
As a complement to the product integration, 4TIC offers a full installation service in which, some of its more specialized technical team will advise and assist in the task of implementing the system. The objective is to have on your system based on SALTO technology as soon as possible and with maximum guarantees.
Thanks to all these features, VIGIA is the quickest and easiest option when it comes to integrating the SALTO systems related to physical access with the internal information systems, minimizing the effort required to implement and with all safety and system availability.
1. Embedded systems by VIGIA
System is the name of the set of resources provided by VIGIA, which are responsible for integrating the various platforms available in the infrastructure.
We selected the most suitable platforms for each area, and new platforms will be added until all those allow the total control of the facility.
1.1 System Access Control Based on SALTO SYSTEMS
Although VIGIA is a global infrastructure management, the first system that is available is the access control based on SALTO SYSTEMS.
SALTO SYSTEMS product integration, a leader in its sector, allows to manage a large facility with excellent reliability.
The leadership of this manufacturer when it comes to incorporating new technologies in the field of access control, along with the concept of infrastructure management provided by VIGIA, allow us to maintain our facilities in the forefront.
To be able to support all the features available in the access control system, VIGIA provides three core modules that help to form an integrated, flexible and appropriate SALTO facilities management.
1.1.1 GUI Administration
Global access interface
By using this single web application, the administrator can perform all the tasks of administration and management authorizations on the SALTO Systems.
This application allows you to manage information from two different worlds: One of the corporate information system with data from individuals, departments and locations, and a second data source with SALTO, ie. areas, doors and encoders. The fusion of both sets of information will allow us to assign permissions to individuals, departments, areas, groups or locations in a comfortable way.
Regarding to the tasks of system administration, the administration interface allows us to perform multiple tasks, such as to define administrator users, to assign encoders or users to departments and to synchronize information with SALTO.
Thinking about the independent management of each unit within the organization, the administration interface allows us to delegate the management of a department to a "Department manager” who will only have access and will only give permits within their unit. In this way, and referring to the administrative part of the system, an authorized user with permits to manage an entire department or departments, will be able to create user groups, to give different types of permits or to issue / to cancel cards to access the system, among other many actions.
It is possible to do all of these functions through a rich web interface, which, thanks to cutting-edge technologies, offers a suitable and efficient view which simplifies management tasks and administration.
Unified Access
Just as the implementation of access control is able to work with the information that you may already have in your corporate database, the management interface offers the ability to integrate with the authentication system that uses the customer's organization such as LDAP / Active Directory or Web Services.
1.1.2 Component to interact with SALTO SYSTEMS
This component constitutes the core of the access control system. Thanks to it, it is possible a two-way communication with SALTO.
On one hand, the system needs to query SALTO when retrieving the list of available doors, zones or to issue a card. To accomplish that, SALTO offers to integrators a protocol called SHIP, which can perform all these actions in an automated way.
VIGIA implements all the functionality required, so that the access to the SALTO facility by using SHIP was completely transparent to the administrator when it comes to manage the various objects and authorizations.
Moreover, in certain moments such as the updating of the permits of a card, the SALTO system is needed to check the client system.
To support this need, VIGIA implements a cache where are stored all the system authorizations. With it, it is possible to respond to the demands of the SALTO system, even when the client database is down.
1.1.3 Data synchronization component
Finally, in order to integrate the access control system with the customer information system, VIGIA incorporates the data synchronization component.
This component, through a variety of techniques to choose from during the implantation of the device, allows us to keep synchronized the VIGIA data model and customer information system. In this way, any transaction that takes place on the SALTO system, will use the already existing information, avoiding data duplication and the difficulties this causes in their management.
1.1.4 Monitoring the interaction component
In addition, VIGIA offers a client application that is capable of connecting to the core system and provides updated information about several system parameters such as the license, state of the cache, events in the system, etc.
This system monitor, beyond the system state information, is capable of giving us access to the administration interface of the interaction component via telnet. Through this interface, you can set global parameters of the system such as address, port and instance of the database.
1.2 Systems to be incorporated in the future by VIGIA
VIGIA is born as a spirit of integration of different systems to enable global management of infrastructure. That is why SpeedyControl is working to include new services and features that expand its capabilities.
Some of these improvements are:
- Presence control. Integrated terminal presence control, which may operate independently or connected to the elements of SALTO SYSTEMS.
- Booking engine. Provide mechanisms for external applications to manage a booking system with impact on the authorizations of SALTO SYSTEMS.
- Consumption control. Provide mechanisms for reading various types of consumption in a facility (electricity, water, gas, etc).
- Manage multiple middleware. To integrate multiple facilities that are geographically dispersed.
